The Proposal

I finally got my ring and it is gorgeous!  It's even nicer than I ever imagined.  Nick did a great job with the proposal too!  So since we've been talking about getting married for awhile and we even have a date, a location and a photographer it wasn't a huge surprise.  We met with my friend Barry at Rocky Mountain Diamond Company and we picked it out.  Nick just said get the ring you want so I did.  I knew it would take two weeks to make the ring and the band but I didn't know when he called and ordered it.  I really didn't think I would get it this weekend because we didn't have big plans.  We planned on having Nick and the kids come down and have a pizza party with my family.  However, my family was acting a bit strange on Saturday so I suspected something maybe going on.

Friday night (February 25th) Nick sent me a text and said he and the kids want to come at 4:00 instead of 5:00.  I didn't think much of it because I knew the kids wouldn't be able to stay too late because of church the next morning.  So Saturday my family all had to run an errand at 3:00.  I thought it was a bit strange that they were going to the grocery store and didn't think they would be home by 4:00.  Well, it was a little after 4:00 and Nick came to my parents house.  He didn't have the kids with him which was kind of strange.  He said they were at The Gateway at the Build a Bear with his Mom and we had to go pick them up.  I was a bit suspicious at that point  but was excited to see what he had going on.  I was hoping the ring was involved because everyone was acting strange and if the ring wasn't involved I had a weird family and a weird fiance.  So we went to The Gateway and parked the car.  We were just coming out and Nick's sister called to tell Nick that his Mom took the kids to the Lionhouse to look at rolls for the rehearsal dinner, which made me even more suspicious.

So we jumped on the Trax and headed to the Lionhouse to pick up his kids.  We got off at the Temple Square stop at West Temple.  We then walked through Temple Square.  We got through Temple Square and I was pretty cold so I asked Nick if he wanted to go through the Joseph Smith Memorial Building but he said no he liked to walk around it.  We walked around it and came to the plaza near the Relief Society building and came upon the statue of Joseph and Emma Smith.  I first noticed someone left a rose at their feet.  Then I noticed that Joseph had a ring box in his hand.  Nick grabbed it and got on one knee to propose.  I said "Yes" and looked up to see both of our families trying to hide between the buildings and his kids trying to hide behind the flower planters.  They all came out to congratulate us.  It was so great that Nick involved our families in the proposal.  I suspected it maybe coming but he still surprised me.  He is so wonderful and we're lucky to have each other!  I can't believe that in 5 months we will be getting married!

I later found out that he picked the ring up on Friday night and drove straight to my parents house to show my family.  My mom asked him when he was planning on giving it to me and he said maybe in a week or so but my mom told him that I should have it as soon as possible.  He joined my ward on Sunday and I was so glad to have the ring so that we could be officially engaged when he came to church with me.  I've included some pictures that my sister took while she was hiding.
